After I was laid off in November 2024, I decided to try my hand at freelancing and created my own LLC. I thought it would be a good way to separate myself from the competition and also keep my skills fresh by maintaining a WordPress-based business website. I incorporated my LLC with the State of Washington and started writing SEO-optimized blog posts.

Overall it was a success and I’m glad that I started my own business. I was able to land a few freelancing gigs as I looked for a new permanent position. However, the overhead is significant (have you seen WordPress subscription prices lately?), and I have a new job as an Evergreen Content Manager for Third Planet Media, so I have made the decision to shut my virtual doors.

The sections below are the highlights of my Dahlstrom Solutions LLC website. I’m proud of what I created and want it to live on in some form, so this page is an archive of the work I put into my business. The formatting was better, but this is the content that was on the website.

First blog post – Welcome to Dahlstrom Solutions LLC

Hello and welcome to Dahlstrom Solutions LLC. My name is Ted Dahlstrom and I am the President/CEO/Founder of the company. I decided to start my own business because I was recently laid off by my former employer due to a significant reduction in the company’s workforce.

As I mentioned on my LinkedIn profile, I am bummed but not bitter about this development. While I pursue permanent employment I am planning on taking on freelance copywriting and content management projects using all the skills I acquired as a content manager, marketing writer, and SEO strategist.

I decided to create my new official website using WordPress because I used the CMS platform every day in my old position and it will be a good opportunity to keep my WordPress skills fresh and stay up-to-date on all the new plugins available on the site. I’ll be trying some new things out here, so please let me know if something looks funny or doesn’t work right.
